"Touch of the Irish" is sired by the famous Irish Draught stallion "O'Leary's Irish Diamond", RID. "O'Leary's Irish Diamond" achieved great acclaim as a champion open jumper, and achieved brilliant success in dressage through Prix St. George level. Sadly, "O'Leary's Irish Diamond" died in 2010 and "Touch of the Irish" is one of only three Irish Draught stallions sired by "O'Leary's Irish Diamond". "Touch of the Irish" shares the athletic promise and wonderful temperament so common in "O'Leary's Irish Diamond's" offspring.
"Touch of the Irish's" dam, "Blue Cailleagh", RID is sired by "Touch of the Blues", RID, one of the few Irish Draught stallions whose achievements could be claimed to rival "O'Leary's Irish Diamond". "Touch of the Blues" was Champion Irish Draught stallion in both the UK and America. He was one of only a few stallions to ever achieve Grade E "Elite" in the 100 day stallion performance test. Most impressively he competed successfully through Intermediate Level in 3 Day Eventing. Of equal importance to any breeder is the quality of the stallion's offspring. Both "O'Leary's Irish Diamond" and "Touch of the Blues" have a proven history of producing foals of outstanding athletic quality and easy temperament. For those of us who are familiar with the breed, these are traits that are expected in the Irish Draught horse. However, the athleticism of "O'Leary's Irish Diamond" and "Touch of the Blues" is exceptional for any breed.
As accustomed as I am to the wonderful temperament common to the Irish Draught breed, the temperament of "Touch of the Irish", like "himself", is notably special. His confirmation is very correct and possesses the strong legs and feet so highly prized in the breed. He is a living testament to his great breeding. He is DNA tested and fully registered with the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America and is eligible for inspection in 2012.
